THE SERIES

Goodworks is an hour-long documentary series profiling those giving their time and energy working to solve our greatest challenges. People reaching beyond themselves putting their time and energy into humanitarian efforts.

Our host Rob Marciano joins in the effort to bring us their story, whether bringing clean water to those in need or knee deep in garbage to be recycled. Through his hands-on involvement we gain an understanding of the issue, the consequences at risk, and the ultimate benefit in resolving it. There are thousands of heroes out there, let’s give some recognition to those who value building our global community, those who share their time and knowledge nurturing our planet and it’s inhabitants.

These days we’re inundated with messages about self-involvement, greed, government gridlock, etc… let’s provide some programming with a more productive aim.

THE PILOT

3 minute cut down of the  Goodworks pilot. The pilot episode features our host Rob Marciano and the Marine Mammal Center in Northern California.

FUTURE EPISODES

We explore a wide spectrum of subject matter throughout the season, touching on issues both global and domestic. As part of a clean water episode we follow Waves for Water, a group of pro surfers distributing portable water filters to communities in need while traveling on their global surfing tour. We meet Massoud Hassani, who designed and built a low cost land mine detector, and travel with a group using drones to stop the poaching of elephants and rhino’s in Africa. Shelter Box responds to disasters worldwide providing shelter and vital supplies, and Animals Asia is busy rescuing Moon Bears from bile bear farming. Domestically we jump into the climate change issue with The Solutions Project, who’ve created a plan to transition to 100% renewable energy in all 50 states in 50 years.  That leads us to the Waste, Recycling & Reusable story, giving us an eye into where our trash goes when it leaves the curb. Wounded Warriors and the Veteran’s Airlift Command share the experience of those helping our returning Veteran’s, and with Uncharted Play we kick around a soccer ball that creates and stores energy to power a reading light for kids in the developing world. The possibilities are endless, bullying, animal habitat loss, toxins, healthcare, and on and on….
